County Road Beer Farmhouse Saison

Apr
10

The first beer I ever tasted from County Road Beer, and it gets better every time I go back. Perfect balance of alcohol, aromatics, bitterness, and a little bit of sour. This is the beer I want to have a full pint of after I’ve finished a tasting flight at the brew pub. (4.5/5)

Collective Arts Saint of Circumstance Citrus Blonde Ale

I love when citrus ales have only a hint of citrus. This Citrus Blonde Ale has a very slight note of lemon peel on the finish, and enough malt flavour to give it a bit more weight than your usual summer wheat beer. (3.5/5)

Descendants Harbinger American Pale Ale

American Pale Ales are usually more hop-forward than the Harbinger. There’s plenty of earthy, fruity hop flavour here, but it’s nicely balanced with a malty sweetness. Well made and very drinkable. (4.5/5)

Collective Arts State of Mind Session IPA

Session IPAs are my favourite style of beer; I love the big hop flavour and the low alcohol content. This one is a little heavy on the bitterness, which would be fine for a regular IPA but takes away from the sessionable quality of this beer. (4/5)

Nickel Brook Head Stock India Pale Ale

There’s a great balance of fruity, hopped flavour and rich malt. This beer reminds me of another craft beer I had years ago when I first getting into microbrews and it definitely has a nostalgic element for me. Love it. (4.5/5)

MacKinnon Brothers Wild Peppermint Stout

This isn’t a gimmicky “Christmas” peppermint. There’s no sweet, artifical mint aroma. The chocolate malt flavour of the stout is balanced with a refreshing hit of well-integrated peppermint that enhances, not overpowers. (4/5)
